Edaville Railroad in South Carver was first opened in 1947. I remember going as a kid in the 1970s at Christmas time. The railroad ran in a big loop through the cranberry bogs with lighted holiday displays on the bogs. The whole place was lit up as a winter wonderland.
These days it seems that they are riding the wave of Thomas the Tank Engine. We brought The Son down for a Day Out With Thomas a family event centered around the Thomas the Tank Engine. They plunk a big blue number one engine in front of the regular Edaville train.
He is a really useful engine and pulls the trainload of excited kids around the bogs. My kid was one of those excited ones. Although, he seemed a bit concerned about a television character in real life.
