Haymarket – Continuing My Quest

Next on my quest to visit each of the 1,000 Great Places in Massachusetts is Haymarket in Boston.

Haymarket is an open-air fruit and vegetable market between the North End, Blackstone Square and Faneuil Hall Marketplace. It used to be dark and undesirable location when the elevated Central Artery was still up, casting a shadow and heavy road noise over the market. Now it’s pleasant and happening in a very desirable location.

Haymarket has been open since about 1830. Some the wood and scraps used to make some stalls look like they have been around that long.

Haymarket is open during daylight hours every Friday and Saturday.
