Continuing on my quest to visit all 1,000 Great Places in Massachusetts and having just finished hiking up to the Blue Hills Observatory and visiting the Trailside Museum we swung by Ponkapoag Pond to hike through their trails. This was the 39th stop on our journey.
The Son was very tired after “using up all of his energy” on the hike up and back down from the summit of Great Blue Hill. Ponkapoag Pond is separated from the rest of the Blue Hills Reservation by Route 128/ I-95 /I-93. Unlike the rest of Blue Hills, the area around the pond is relatively flat. That makes it a great area to hike for a tired little boy.
