by Saturday was a chance for members of Team Kinetic Karma to gather for a bike ride and to visit our Pedal Partner Maya.
We gathered in Bedford, showing off our new team kits. We also had a message for our teammate Theresa who was starting another battle with cancer.
This has become an annual training ride. We “adopted” Maya as our team’s pedal partner shortly after she was diagnosed with Clear Cell Sarcoma in 2017. Today, Maya is a happy and healthy 9-year-old thanks to improving cancer treatments.
The route started at the Bedford VA and headed into Arlington to visit Maya and her family. Then it was back out along the Minuteman Bikeway to the Northwest. From there it was on to the Apple Pi route by CRW.
It was a beautiful route, on a beautiful day with some beautiful friends. We grabbed a post-ride beer to celebrate the health and happiness of Maya.
Then we were off on our separate ways. I pedaled off to grab some lunch. My legs felt good, so I decided to do another lap of the route, doubling the 5o mile ride into a century. Probably not the best idea given the planned ride for the next day.
