Mount Washington Auto Road Bicycle Climb 2025

I signed up for third attempt at this ride before I broke my shoulder this Spring. I put all my recovery into extending distance and none into hill climbing. I had low expectations and met my expectations. I was a few minutes slower than last year. But I enjoyed it more. That first mile seemed to arrive much sooner than last year.

Yes, it’s a brutal climb. It was hot and there was a lack of breeze below the tree line. I’m ready to sign up again.

My son was great to help with support. You need someone willing to drive up the mountain and hang out for hours as the riders come up. Then drive the riders back down.

I wore my pink Breakthrough T1D coach kit. I was joined by Paul, Frank and Adrian, fellow Breakthrough T1D riders.

The Rippers were fantastic at the top of the climb, with the steepest gradients. Their roars got me up that last section when I had nothing left in the tank.

Here is a video compilation from the ride.
